This year's topics (final program to be confirmed):
The program is still being developed and is based on feedback from last year and new trends in child health, focusing on the national ‘Thriving Kids’ changes.
Topics will include preschool health, development surveillance, and the Healthy Kids check – what’s changing and what GPs need to know.
A highlight will be the opening plenary, ‘The Beige Tsunami’, which will look at restrictive diets in children, including nutrition problems and what GPs may see in practice.
Other topics may include:
• speech, language and learning concerns, recognising red flags and when to refer
• child protection, including reporting and supporting children at risk
• preventive health, such as immunisation updates (RSV, MenB)
• serious conditions not to miss, like sepsis, first seizure, and new diabetes
There will also be practical sessions (tbc), such as:
• paediatric emergency simulations
• fracture checks and paediatric X-rays
• ENT/otoscopy and hearing assessment
• eczema care, including wet wraps
• iron infusions for patients under 18
The program will include sessions for both GPs and nurses, with small group breakout sessions relevant to day-to-day practice.
Please note: This is a draft program. Topics, format, and speakers may change as planning continues.
