The Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN is supporting primary care providers continue to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to the local community, whilst the region recovers from a number of natural disasters.
Funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care, grants are now available to support and assist primary care providers in future proofing and planning as much as possible for disasters, in the following ways:
1. Providing education and training for primary care providers to improve disaster preparedness and business continuity (AGPAL accredited Disaster Management Workshops available).
2. Engagement of temporary workforce to support the administration of the primary care provider, including attendance to disaster preparedness and business continuity education (as per above).
3. Improve COVID-19 preparedness and infection control through the purchase of related items such as HEPA filters, vaccination equipment (such as a vaccination fridges, electronics, and other essential supplies or equipment) and undertake fit testing.
4. Purchase of consumables or perishable items associated with the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines.
5. Assist in overcoming damage to buildings, workforce disturbance, damaged equipment, loss of vaccine and consumables.
To be eligible, the primary care provider must be located in the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN region, be a COVID-19 vaccination provider, able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the proposed activity and able to demonstrate that their proposed activity will achieve the grant program's aims and objectives.
